Local Matters Names Carl Schindler Director Of Marketing. Former White Directory Exec to Handle Marketing and Communications for the Boss Product Line.
DENVER, Colo. May 25, 2005 - Local Matters, a leading provider of strategic technology search solutions for telephone directory publishers, mobile and directory assistance service providers, today announced it has hired Carl Schindler as director of marketing. Schindler will be responsible for marketing and communications for the the "Boss" product line, which was developed by YPsolutions, now part of Local Matters.
Schindler comes most recently from White Directory Publishers (WDP), where he was responsible for all marketing and communications for the past five years. During his tenure at WDP, Schindler rebuilt the marketing strategy and team supporting the company's growth as the publisher of The Talking Phone Book. Repositioning of The Talking Phone Book and more than 40 successful new book launches helped attract the attention of Hearst Newspapers, which acquired WDP in late 2004.
While at WDP, Schindler handled all campaign development and execution in house, earning numerous awards for the work. Schindler was also largely responsible for the evolution of WDP's electronic products and promotion, launching IYP sites in all Talking Phone Book markets. He was also instrumental in the company's foray into digital directories, where WDP was the first independent publisher to offer books on CD. The company was also the first independent to promote usage of its directories via print, web, CD or download.
Prior to serving with WDP Schindler worked largely with NYC-based advertising agencies and also in newspaper publishing. He is a graduate of Cornell University. Before his departure from WDP, Schindler was named a winner of the Hearst Corporation's Marketing Excellence Award.
